Santaizuki Observation

Kumano is known as a Land of Faith and has a lot of legend and myths.
Santaizuki legend is one of them. (“Santaizuki” means a moon which look threesome)
Santaizuki Observation is held on every November 23th on lunar calender.

It is said that a mountain ascentic viewed the three moon at Kumano Sanzan, acquired mysterious power and told the story to residents.
The moon rising from the edges of mountains are said to look threesome.


The photo below shows the three-moon fantasy. 
On the previous viewing,the moon was not actually seen this way to our naked eyes,but a digital camera captured the three moons.
